Skiptracer - Sleeping In Airports e.p.
Skiptracer’s music is a form of melodic indie quite comparable at times to Idlewild, and I can’t see any reason why they shouldn’t be equally successful. It’s very competent, loud/quiet dynamic indie rock which shows a lot of ability in the song writing stakes, has a definite sing along quality at times and is still abrasive enough not to fall into the pit of despair which is generic guitar pop. There does need to be a bit more polish applied to the finished product before it becomes something spectacular but this four track e.p. does hint at the ability to do something much, much greater. A definite indication that the Singles Club competition is doing a fine job of rooting out the most talented bands from the local music scene. I look forward to further releases.
