The Martin Harley Band - Martin Harley

The Martin Harley Band play a very cool and quite jazzy kind of acoustic DIY pop with some of the most astounding sounding musicianship you’re ever likely to hear. The instrumental Del Mundo is just showing off. Add to this some great song writing and a scrumptiously intoxicating croon and you’ve got quite a nice little thing going on here. The most amazing thing about this though is that they make it all sounds so easy, even on record the band ooze an effortless cool, which is no mean feat. Playing their own material with excellent takes on Bob Dylan's I Shall Be Released and Tom Waits' Chocolate Jesus thrown in for good measure it’s a very distinctive and impressive little album which would be perfect to put on and chill out to on a warm evening, preferably with a nice bottle of red wine to hand too. I’m also reliably informed that this isn’t even a patch on their live show. I really want to see them live.
