Electric Eel Shock - Go Europe!

This is a re-issue of their Go America! album complete with a few extra tracks and rocks. It’s Electric Eel Shock, it has to rock. It’s completely over the top, more than just a little bit ridiculous, a blatant act of hero worship and is also a surprisingly good garage rock heavy metal album in its own right. Some of the songs like Waaa and Suicide Rock’n’Roll are sublime in their simplicity. Others like Rock’n’Roll Can Rescue The World and the surprisingly touching S.O.S. are more complex and all the better for it. It is also the highest known concentration of the words Rock’n’Roll known to man. Despite all its endearing qualities it’s not perfect. Part of this is simply that I’m not a heavy metal fan so if you are it might well be perfect anyway. But a lot of it is due to the fact that it is impossible to capture the stunning live show that EES put on on a piece of flat plastic, so therefore no CD could ever live up to the standards they’ve set for themselves. The inclusion of video clips does help this side of things but it’s still not the same. Go see them live, have the time of your life, then use the album to bask in the wonderful memories, that’s my recommendation.
