Mr Belding - In Your Hands.
Mr Belding - In Your Hands.
This six track e.p from local punk/hardcore band Mr Belding is a sign of a local
band going in the right direction.
Their previous releases were recorded on a very tight budget, and received a lot
of criticism due to this. The talent
was there, it was just the quality that let it down. This recording is the
complete opposite, a much crisper sound.
The cd starts of with Sour trip, a reworking of an old favourite with powerful
vocals that make you want to shout along and a punchy bassline. This is a great
introduction to Mr Belding if you haven't heard them before. Sour trip blends
into touched by god, kissed by Judas, which is the most hardcore of all the
tracks, much improved scream/shout vocals from Chris and an impressive complex
sounding drumbeat, next is waiting for dusk, again an old track reworked, its my
least favourite track, maybe a little short. 9 seconds of fury does
exactly what it says on the tin, "lies lies lies, stupid fucking lies" this
track caused an invasion the last time they played it.
The best track is The Anarchy within, the most melodic song on the cd, strong
vocals, brilliant riff, very different to the other tracks, this is down to it
being written by the guitarist, rather than vocalist Chris Moynan. The e.p ends
with Reciprocal, which is an emotional song, showing the mature side to Mr
Belding "its turned to dust, its no longer there" the melodic part is really
impressive, and in all this song sums up the e.p and is an impressive ender.
All in all, this is a tight recording of a very promising local punk/hardcore
band, who deserve to get big, a clear improvement from the earlier e.p's
