Dutch Oven
This is the first CD I’ve ever got by using Punkemon to my advantage. I’m very glad I did because this CD is a corker.
The CD begins with a warm, tingly keyboard and I could tell from there that I was going to enjoy this track. The song progresses and every
now and again touches into hardcore. Ending again with the atmospheric keyboard and emotional screams of “you’re fucking to late” makes ‘Every Scar Tells A Story’ a very good quality opener.
‘On The Edge Summer’ has the common feature of most bands these days of dual vocalists. It works extremely well. The chorus is fast and fantastic and something most fast punk rock bands would’ve been proud to create.
Next track is ‘Momentary Lapse In Conversation’. I really like the bass in this track and the lyrics as well. The chorus again pushes into hardcore and hooks you into shouting “I hope you get what you deserve” A negative though, the voice-over towards the end of the track sounds a bit corny, but overall a superb song.
Track four is an acoustic number called “Slap In The Face”. Musically superb. Fantastic work out of an acoustic guitar. Vocals do not let the track down either, and the soft voice compliments the relaxing guitar perfectly.
The last track is called “Give It To Me Straight”. This song doesn’t work for me. I cant quite put my finger on it. Its different to the rest of the CD which is good but this one is something I didn’t enjoy listening to. The vocals seemed a bit dull and the track just dragged on too much.
But overall a fantastic CD. I will definitely keep my eyes open for Dutch Oven in the future and I can’t wait for more.
