Descendents - 'Merican EP
People have been waiting years
for this. The Descendents are the band
everyone looks at as the grand-daddies of pop-punk, the band that EVERYONE looks
up to. So a new EP to precede a new album is BIG news. Just as the pop-punk
genre has been raped by the mainstream and is real need of a big kick up the
arse, one of its seminal creators come back with new material. Believe me, you
will not be disappointed. This EP has 4 tracks, 2 from the forthcoming album
'Cool To Be You' and 2 others, and its safe to say that every one is brilliant,
reminding me of what good pop-punk is all about. Fast, melodic and with lyrics
on a variety of subjects, ranging from world politics to more personal ones, yet
all as relevant and important as any you will hear this year. Anyone who has
dismissed pop-punk as music for little kids that watch MTV2 too much, give this
a listen and smell the coffee. With bands this good around, this variety of
music will never die...it cant, its just too
good
